The patient in these photos is a 20 year old breast enlargement patient from Las Vegas who was referred to my plastic surgery practice by a co-worker. She wanted to increase her cup size from an A to a C, creating a fuller, more feminine physique. In addition, she wanted to correct a slight asymmetry between her breasts. After discussing her options and looking at a number of different implants, she chose smooth round implants filled with saline. Although I do offer both silicone-gel implants and saline, this patient preferred the benefits of saline implants, which can be inserted using smaller incisions and a variety of techniques. Also, if a saline-filled implant ruptures, the solution is non-toxic and the rupture will be easy to detect as the breast will appear to deflate in size. Based on the patient's pre-operative measurements, the left implant was filled to 380cc and the right implant was filled to 365cc. Like most of my breast augmentation patients from Las Vegas, this young woman chose submuscular placement of the implants. Submuscular placement generally produces more natural-looking results with less chance of seeing the implant through the skin. The implants were placed through inframammary incisions - incisions made along the natural crease under the breast. As the post-op photos show, there is almost no visible scarring. The asymmetry between her breasts has been corrected, and her breasts are much fuller and rounded as a result of the procedure.
