Portrait delivers millisecond pulses of nitrogen plasma directly to the surface of the skin. Day of Surgery
Patients will decide with Dr. Cambeiro if they should be sedated or if a topical anesthetic should be used prior to the Rhytec Portrait PSR treatment.
Patients should not wear any makeup or moisturizers the day of the procedure.
Procedure
- During the brief procedure, a sensation of heat will be felt along the localized areas of the face where the plasma passes over.
- The hand-piece nozzle is held about 5mm from the surface of the skin.
- From the nozzle, the ultra-high energy nitrogen plasma is pulsed in a series of spots.
- The spots are delivered in a sequential pattern that connects and slightly overlaps until the entire face is covered.
- The entire face can be treated in about 15 minutes.
- Patients can apply topical anesthetics prior to the procedure.
- The Rhytec Portrait PSR procedure is not as painful as regular resurfacing.
- Dr. Cambeiro will prescribe an appropriate treatment relative the results the patient wants and the downtime that they are willing to have.
Recovery
- It usually takes from on to two days up to a week for skin to look normal with or without makeup.
- With lower intensity levels of the Rhytec Portrait PSR treatment, skin will turn to a mild red color and there will be some flaking.
- Higher intensity treatments cause the skin to brown and shed 3 to 5 days after the treatment. After the skin sheds, the redness of the regenerated skin will last for another 2 to 3 days.
- You will apply several balms and mineral ointments to your face several times daily during the initial recovery period.
- The remarkable and unique feature of the Rhytec Portrait PSR treatment is that is promotes the natural regeneration of skin. This means that skin will continue to regenerate and results will progress for up to a year after the treatment.
- The Rhytec Portrait PSR treatment has not been shown to leave scarring, cause prolonged periods of downtime, cause hypopigmentation, or prolonged hyperpigmentation that is associated with other laser treatments.
