Initial Consultation
During your initial breast augmentation consultation at our practice in Henderson. Nevada, Dr. Cambeiro will discuss your expectations and the results you would like to see from your surgery.
The initial consultation is also a time for you to determine what type of breast implant will be used, along with the size and placement of the implant. Dr. Cambeiro will review your medical history and evaluate you body to make sure thatthe procedure is right for you.
If endoscopic breast augmentation is right for you, Dr. Cambeiro will inform you of every step of the endoscopic breast augmentation process. In consoltation at his Las Vegas practice he will review all pre-surgery directions, precautions, and possible complications or other risks associated with the procedure.
Procedure
- The difference between the endoscopic breast augmentation and traditional breast augmentation, performed through an incision in the inframammary crease or around the areola, is the use of an endoscope. An endoscope is a tiny, lighted camera that is about the size of a pencil.
- The endoscope allows Dr. Cambeiro to perform your endoscopic breast augmentation through a tiny incision made in the natural crease of the armpit, called the axillary incision.
- Through an incision in the armpit, Dr. Cambeiro will feed the endoscope and surgical tools into the breast implant site. The endoscope displays the surgical site on a monitor.
- By using an endoscope, Dr. Cambeiro can see the exact boundaries of the breast implant pocket. This allows him to both place the implant more precisely, and lessen the chance of post surgical complications.
Recovery
- The recovery from the endoscopic procedure is similar to that of traditional breast augmentation. Some of the benefits of endoscopic breast augmentation are that it may lessen the chance of capsular contracture occurring, and the recovery period can be shorter than recovery from traditional breast enlargement.
- Since the incision is made in the natural crease of the armpit, rather than near the breast, if any scarring should occur, it will be concealed away from the breast.
- During the recovery period, patients will still be required to wear a special surgical bra, and refrain from strenuous activities for a few weeks. There may be swelling and bruising for several days immediately after the procedure. Nearly all of your regular activities can be resumed after a week or two.
