How Gynecomastia Surgery is Performed

- In the least-invasive approach, and if most of the enlargement is fatty in nature, Dr. Cambeiro may utilize liposuction to contour the breast area.
- Under general anesthetic (completely asleep) he will make very small incisions through which he inserts a small tube. A vacuum suction is then applied to the tube which extracts the fat, leaving you with a smoother, flatter contour.
- If thick fibrous tissue is encountered below the areola (pigmented area around the nipple) he will use a shaving device to remove this tissue. This device allows him to avoid making an incision around the areola.
- A pressure dressing is applied to assist the skin in conforming back to the underlying muscle.
