Did you know that your body already has everything it needs to create beautiful, glowing skin and thick hair? Hidden away in your blood platelets are growth factors that can keep tissues including skin healthy, resilient, and smooth. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy facial rejuvenation treatments, available in our Las Vegas medical spa, make use of your own powerful platelets to restore some of the smooth glow of youth to your skin — without the need for surgery or anesthesia. We also use PRP therapy to help stimulate hair growth for those with thinning hair.
Harness the power in your platelets with a PRP facial rejuvenation or hair loss treatment at our Las Vegas practice. Request a consultation with our easy-to-use online form, or call our office at (702) 734-4100 for personalized answers to all of your questions.
How It Works
This innovative therapy uses the power of your own platelets to stimulate your skin and hair's natural regenerative processes. PRP can alleviate the look of many common concerns, including:
- Fine lines and deeper wrinkles
- Thin, papery, or "crepey" skin
- Under-eye circles
- Acne scarring
- Dull, lackluster skin
PRP can also be used to treat certain types of hair loss. Dr. Camberio evaluates your candidacy for this option during your consultation.
Your Treatment Options
For such an advanced concept, PRP treatments are surprisingly simple. Your procedure begins with a brief blood draw just like you'd have for a routine doctor's appointment. Once your blood is extracted, Dr. Cambeiro uses a special process to separate out the valuable platelet-rich plasma. Once the platelets have been fully purified, they can be used to improve your skin in a few ways:
This facial rejuvenation treatment is ideal for those with mild to moderate signs of aging or other skin concerns and who would look a refreshed, youthful glow.
We prepare your skin with a micropen, a handheld device that uses very small, almost microscopic needles to create small "micro-channels" in the skin's surface. We then massage your PRP into your skin, taking advantage of the points of entry that the micropen has created. The platelets immediately go to work fortifying your skin.
This stronger "facelift" works in a similar way but takes it a step further for those who have more extensive signs of aging.
Your purified platelets are combined with hyaluronic acid to create a biologically customized filler. Dr. Cambeiro then uses a fine needle to inject this filler into the areas of your face that bother you most, including crow's feet, frown lines, and sunken or hollow cheeks.
One appealing element of both the PRP facial and facelift is that they can be combined with other skin rejuvenation treatments, including laser skin resurfacing and even microdermabrasion to create results that are tailored to you.
At our Las Vegas practice, PRP is a revolutionary treatment option for hair loss, too. The same growth factors that help encourage skin regeneration can also stimulate dormant hair follicles. Once the platelets are gathered and separated, they're injected into the scalp. Dr. Camberio applies a special nerve-blocking anesthetic on your scalp to keep you comfortable. Following your treatment, you may drive yourself home or to your other normal activities.
PRP may be used on its own for hair restoration or as a complement to minoxidil (ROGAINE®). Most patients require a series of treatments, spaced several weeks apart, for optimal results.
Whether you undergo a PRP facial or facelift, you can expect mild to moderate redness, warmth, sensitivity, and a sensation of tightness just after your treatment. However, these effects shouldn't hamper you from resuming your usual activities immediately after your appointment, and they resolve on their own within about a day.
Over the course of several weeks, your platelets go to work fortifying and strengthening your skin. New collagen growth adds fullness and volume to thinning areas, and wrinkles and scars fade and smooth out. Your ultimate results may last between 6 months and 1 year.
The side effects of PRP for hair restoration are few and typically include some scalp tenderness. Over time, you'll notice improved growth of your own natural hair, although results vary.
