More than a cosmetic procedure, labiaplasty can reduce extra skin in this delicate area of a woman's body, making her more comfortable during her favorite activities and offering her a valuable boost of confidence. Labiaplasty Before & After Photos
Because labiaplasty is a relatively minor procedure, most healthy adult women are eligible. Although every woman has her own reasons for undergoing surgery, most patients give one or more of the following reasons for pursuing surgery:
- They feel self-conscious or uncomfortable during sex.
- Certain activities, such as cycling, are painful.
- Tight pants and many swimsuits are too revealing.
During your consultation, Dr. Cambeiro performs a physical examination to help him develop a surgical plan that gives you the discreet, natural-looking results you want. He may recommend a nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation treatment called ThermiVa® instead of, or in addition to, labiaplasty. Be prepared to talk at length about your medical history and your lifestyle to help him understand your motivations for surgery and the ultimate outcome you'd like to achieve.
How Is a Labiaplasty Performed?
Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure that's typically performed while you are under local anesthesia, either with or without sedation. During the surgery, Dr. Cambeiro carefully excises excess, protruding labial skin based on your exact specifications.
While some surgeons take a simplistic approach to labiaplasty, Dr. Cambeiro understands the importance of maintaining sensation and a natural appearance in this area. He uses a specialized technique to meticulously remove only certain small sections of tissue while preserving a natural-looking shape and contour. Finally, he sutures the incisions.
Although most women undergo labiaplasty to reduce the size of their labia minora, there are other options to improve the appearance of this area. In addition to reducing excess skin, Dr. Cambeiro can add fat to the outer labia for a more youthful look. He can also generally improve the appearance of the entire pubic area by lifting sagging skin and "spot treating" excess fat that can accumulate with age.

*Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
After your labiaplasty, you can expect to spend a few days resting at home. Most patients are able to return to work after a brief period of downtime, typically 2 or 3 days. However, more strenuous activities such as exercise and sex should be avoided for about 6 weeks. This allows the area to heal completely undisturbed for the best possible results.
Will I be able to have children after labiaplasty?
Yes. Labiaplasty does not affect your menstrual cycle, fertility, future pregnancy, or childbirth. However, it's important to give your body ample time to fully heal before engaging in any kind of sexual activity.
Will anyone be able to tell that I've had labiaplasty?
Not unless you tell them! Dr. Cambeiro takes special care to deliver great results that leave practically invisible scars. It's unlikely that future sexual partners and doctors will notice that you've had surgery.
Can I combine labiaplasty with another procedure?
Yes, although bear in mind that undergoing more than one procedure at a time may alter your recuperation. Labiaplasty often makes a nice addition to breast augmentation or a tummy tuck — 2 procedures that are popular for women who have had children. You and Dr. Cambeiro can talk more about undergoing a combined procedure during your consultation.
