Breast Reduction Surgery in Las Vegas, NV with Dr. Arthur Cambeiro

Oversized breasts can create real physical and emotional challenges, from chronic back and neck pain to self-consciousness about clothing fit.

Dr. Arthur Cambeiro offers surgical breast reduction to remove excess breast tissue and fat while repositioning the nipple and areola for a natural, balanced appearance that is often combined with a breast lift for optimal results. Every plan is customized to your body and your goals, so the outcome feels proportional to your frame rather than following a one-size-fits-all formula.

How Does Dr. Cambeiro Develop Your Breast Reduction Plan?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Cambeiro will discuss the details of the procedure, examine your breast anatomy, review your health history, and walk you through the incision options and recovery timeline. Many patients also watch procedural videos, so they know exactly what to expect on surgery day. This thorough planning process gives Dr. Cambeiro the information he needs to recommend the technique best suited to your anatomy and comfort goals, rather than a generic approach.

During your breast reduction consultation, Dr. Cambeiro will:

  • Ask you to watch a video of the procedure.
  • Study your breast anatomy.
  • Explain the details of the operation, including incisions and recovery.
  • Discuss every associated risk.

The purpose of your breast reduction consultation is to provide critical information you need to know to prepare you for a safe and successful procedure.

Is Breast Reduction Right for Me?

If you have oversized breasts that affect your daily life, a breast reduction is a fantastic option to achieve the breast size and contour you want to have. The operation is a benefit to women who have difficulty leading an active lifestyle because of the size of their breasts.

If you suffer from heavy or pendulous breasts that create obstacles in your daily life, a surgical breast reduction may be an excellent option to achieve your desired figure. This surgery is helpful for women who experience discomfort or find that the size of their breasts interferes with their quality of life. You are well-qualified for breast reduction if you meet any of the following criteria.

Breast reduction may be a good option if you experience:

  • Back, neck, or shoulder discomfort caused by the weight of your breasts
  • Skin irritation beneath the breasts
  • Bra strap indentations from carrying excess breast weight
  • Limitations on physical activity due to breast size
  • Self-consciousness about the size of your breasts
  • Asymmetry between your breasts

It’s generally recommended to wait until breast development is complete, typically by age 17 or 18, though some patients continue developing into their early twenties. Dr. Cambeiro will help you determine the right timing for your body during your consultation, rather than relying on age alone.

What Happens During The Breast Reduction Consultation?

Breast reduction candidates in Henderson and Las Vegas choose Dr. Cambeiro because of the complete surgical experience he offers. This process includes your consultation. If you live outside the Las Vegas area, we offer a fly-in program to meet your travel needs.

Dr. Cambeiro performs a comprehensive medical exam, reviews your surgical history, discusses current medications and health conditions, and orders a baseline mammogram before surgery. He will also explain your anesthesia options. Smoking must be avoided for four weeks before and after surgery, and any family history of breast cancer is documented as part of your evaluation. Patients consistently describe Dr. Cambeiro and his staff as attentive and thorough, taking the time to answer every question before moving forward with a surgical plan.

Dr. Cambeiro is wonderful and the whole office staff is kind, patient, answers all of questions well, responsive and understanding. I drove 30min from Summerlin to have him as my doctor for my first surgery, despite having plenty of doctors in Summerlin. Worth the level of care I received.

What Happens During The Breast Reduction Procedure?

After assessing your health, goals, and anatomy, Dr. Cambeiro will devise a surgical plan. The most common technique employs a three-part incision: one around the areola, a short-scar vertical incision, and a horizontal incision beneath the breast.

After Dr. Cambeiro has removed the excess breast tissue, fat and skin, he’ll shift the nipples and areolas to a higher position. If your areolas are larger than you’d like, he’ll reduce their size. He’ll move skin from above the nipple down and together to reshape the breasts. He may also use liposuction to improve the contour, especially on the sides of the breasts.

As he moves the nipples and areolas to a higher position, Dr. Cambiero takes every precaution to keep them attached to their underlying tissue. This method may also preserve your ability to breastfeed, though there’s a small chance breast surgery may hinder you from breastfeeding. We recommend you are finished adding to your family before you consider a breast reduction, as future pregnancies could affect your satisfaction with the results of your surgery.

Dr. Cambiero may use other incision techniques in some instances. Women whose breasts contain a significant amount of fatty tissue may find that liposuction alone provides a sufficient reduction in their breast size, with only minimal scarring.

What Can I Expect During Breast Reduction Recovery ?

When Dr. Cambiero and his surgical team complete your breast reduction, they’ll gently move you to our recovery area. Dr. Cambeiro may insert small drainage tubes beneath the breast to prevent fluids from accumulating. He will dress the wounds with gauze dressings and apply a surgical garment or bra. We ask you to bring a responsible adult with you to the surgery center to drive you home and stay with you for several hours.

You will need to avoid strenuous activities such as bending, lifting, and sports for about three weeks. Avoid drinking alcohol, as it can lead to fluid retention and delays recovery.

You will probably feel tired and sore for a few days following your breast reduction surgery, but you will be up and about in 24-48 hours. You’ll be able to control most of your discomfort with medication. Dr. Cambiero will prescribe you antibiotics to take for five days after the procedure to lower the risk of infection.

You should be up and walking in the morning following your breast reduction surgery. We ask you to restrict your diet to something light in the first few days. You should be able to return to work within a few days to a week, depending on the level of activity required for your job.

You can shower 48 to 72 hours after the breast reduction procedure. Be careful not to immerse your incisions in water.

Las Vegas Breast Reduction FAQs — Answered by Dr. Cambeiro

How common is breast reduction in Las Vegas?

More than 43,590 Americans underwent breast reduction surgery in 2018 alone, making it one of the more frequently performed body-contouring procedures nationwide. Its popularity reflects how often oversized breasts affect daily comfort and mobility for patients of many different backgrounds.

Because breast reduction surgery removes glandular tissue, it can affect milk production for some patients, though the degree varies from person to person. If future breastfeeding is a priority for you, be sure to discuss it with Dr. Cambeiro so he can tailor his surgical approach accordingly.

Yes. During surgical planning, patients can specify their desired post-operative breast size, and Dr. Cambeiro will work with you to set realistic, achievable goals. Bringing reference photos to your consultation can help Dr. Cambeiro understand exactly the proportions you’re hoping to achieve.

Some scarring is an unavoidable part of breast reduction surgery, though Dr. Cambeiro’s advanced techniques and board-certified expertise help keep scarring as minimal and discreet as possible. Scars typically fade significantly over the months following surgery and are often easily concealed by clothing and swimwear.

Significant changes are visible immediately after surgery, though your final results will continue to emerge over the following months as swelling fully subsides. Most patients see their breasts settle into their final shape and position within about 3 to 6 months.

Yes, mammograms remain possible and recommended after breast reduction surgery. Just be sure to inform your technician about your prior procedure so they can adjust their approach accordingly. Keeping a record of your surgical details on hand can make future mammogram appointments go more smoothly.

Most patients can resume more strenuous physical activity, including exercise, after approximately six weeks. Dr. Cambeiro will confirm you’re ready based on your individual healing progress at your follow-up appointments.

Your recovery will vary depending on your individual healing process, but you should expect soreness and swelling for the first few weeks. Dr. Cambeiro will prescribe medication to help with pain and will monitor your recovery. You may also need to wear a surgical bra for several weeks to support healing.

Temporary numbness in the nipples or breast tissue is common after surgery, and most sensation gradually returns as healing progresses. If you notice any unexpected or prolonged changes in sensation, our office is always available to address your concerns.

Some insurance plans cover breast reduction surgery when it is deemed medically necessary to relieve pain or other physical symptoms. Our office can help you understand your policy’s requirements and assist with the documentation your insurer may need.

Yes, a breast lift can often be performed at the same time as breast reduction surgery for a more complete rejuvenation. Combining procedures in a single surgery also means a single recovery period rather than two separate periods of downtime.

Most patients return to work within 1 to 2 weeks, though the exact timeline depends on the physical demands of your job. Patients with more physically demanding jobs may need a slightly longer break before resuming full duties.

As with any surgery, risks can include infection, bleeding, and scarring. Dr. Cambeiro will go over your individual risk factors in detail, so you feel fully informed before moving forward.

Achieving optimal results depends on strictly following your post-operative instructions, including wearing a surgical bra as directed during recovery. Staying consistent with these guidelines in the weeks after surgery plays a major role in how smoothly you heal and how your results look long-term.

Breast reduction surgery typically takes 2 to 4 hours to complete, depending on the amount of tissue being removed and whether any additional procedures, like a breast lift, are performed at the same time.

Most patients need to be refitted for a new, smaller bra size once swelling has fully resolved, generally a few months after surgery.

Most patients experience soreness and tightness in the days following surgery, which is typically well managed with prescribed pain medication and improves significantly within the first week.

A breast reduction removes excess breast tissue and fat to decrease size, while a breast lift repositions the breast without significantly changing its size; many patients benefit from combining the two.

The best way to know is a personal consultation with Dr. Cambeiro, who will evaluate your breast anatomy, health history, and goals to determine whether breast reduction is the right option for you.
