What Happens During The Las Vegas Liposuction Procedure?
Liposuction is an outpatient procedure done under general or local anesthesia administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist. The operation takes two to five hours, depending on the correction required or if you choose to combine liposuction with another procedure.
Once the anesthesia takes effect, Dr. Cambeiro infuses the fat with a highly diluted local anesthetic to inflate the fat cells, making the extraction process more manageable. It will also help Dr. Cambeiro contour the area to a smoother, more refined outcome.
He inserts a thin tube called a cannula to extract fat cells beneath the skin through tiny incisions. Next, he pushes and pulls the cannula through target fat layers, breaking up the cells to suction them out. Finally, a large syringe or vacuum pump generates the necessary suction.
For procedures involving multiple target sites, Dr. Cambeiro will move to the next area, making his incisions as inconspicuous as possible. Lastly, he fits elastic compression garments over each treatment site to reduce fluid buildup and control swelling.
Once Dr. Cambeiro has completed the surgery, our medical team will monitor you in the recovery room for one or two hours. Please come to the surgery center with a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for the next several hours.

What Happens During Las Vegas Liposuction Recovery?
You should understand what is necessary after your surgery to ensure proper healing and fantastic results. For example, imagine you are combining liposuction with another procedure like breast augmentation or a tummy tuck. In that case, there are additional protocols to follow after the operation.
You will return home with your surgery incisions wrapped in compression garments to control swelling. You will need to wear this post-surgical garment at least a month after surgery or as directed by Dr. Cambeiro.
You will go home with prescribed meds for discomfort and infection. Please take these as directed to ensure your recovery is as comfortable and successful as possible. Because Dr. Cambeiro saturates the fat in the treated area with fluid during liposuction, you most likely will have drains inserted to allow the fluid to escape. This drainage usually subsides within 48 hours.
Most patients return to work or their daily routine within a week, except those with more strenuous jobs. They may need to stay home for a week or two.
