How Long Should You Wait to Exercise After Breast Augmentation?

Many Las Vegas patients ask how soon they can hit the gym after undergoing breast augmentation. Although healing time is different for everyone and you shouldn’t do any strenuous activity before you’re ready, here are some general guidelines for jumping back into your workout routine. This timeline will change if your breast augmentation is performed with other procedures in a mommy makeover.

The first 2 weeks post-op

During this time period, you shouldn’t do any exercise besides getting up to walk around. You may feel tired and sore, but walking around is important for reducing your risk for blood clots.  Do not lift anything heavy. Use this time to rest and heal your body.

Weeks 3 to 5 post-op

You can now go on longer walks, but hold off on cardio workouts and lifting weights.

Week 6 and beyond post-op

At 6 weeks, you can resume your regular exercise program, including lifting weights and cardio workouts. Swelling will have gone down and your fuller breasts will feel softer and look more natural.
