How Does Kybella Work?
KYBELLA is an injection that reduces fat under the chin gradually. It contains a substance called deoxycholic acid, which is naturally present in the body as an aid in processing dietary fat. When injected into the fat under the chin, KYBELLA causes those fat cells to break down, and the body responds by metabolizing (i.e., removing) those fat cells.
Am I A Candidate For Kybella?
If you are bothered by localized fat below your chin and do not wish to undergo surgery, KYBELLA might be an excellent solution. Patients should have good skin elasticity, as KYBELLA does not tighten the skin.
Because results from KYBELLA appear gradually with multiple treatments, patients who want to reduce double-chin fat with a single procedure may want to consider liposuction instead.

Dr. Cambeiro administers KYBELLA as a simple office treatment that takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. First, we clean the area to prepare it for treatment and apply a topical anesthetic to reduce discomfort. Next, Dr. Cambeiro marks precise injection points under the skin to serve as guides for an evenly spaced treatment.
Once you’re prepared, Dr. Cambeiro then performs a series of quick injections into the unwanted fat under the chin and on the upper neck. The number of injections you will require depends on the amount and distribution of fat under your chin.
Once the treatment is complete, Dr. Cambeiro’s nurse will apply a cold compress to reduce swelling and discomfort.
