What Are Your Tummy Tuck Options?

If you’re considering a tummy tuck in Las Vegas, you have different options based on your unique needs, including a complete tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck, and/or panniculectomy. The best candidates for these procedures are not planning on losing a lot of weight or becoming pregnant in the future (so that results aren’t compromised). I frequently combine tummy tucks with liposuction to maximize results. Liposuction is excellent for removing areas of excess fat, but tummy tucks are the only way to tighten loose, stretched skin and repair abdominal muscles that become stretched during pregnancy.

Option 1: Complete tummy tuck

This comprehensive technique restores the abdomen above and below the belly button. The incision will run from hipbone to hipbone, as well as near the belly button to free surrounding skin and tissue. It’s my priority to make this incision as low as possible, so it’s covered by a bathing suit and underwear. Embrace® scar therapy is also an option to help minimize scarring. During this procedure, I may also repair abdominal muscles that were stretched or separated during pregnancy. Take a look at our photo gallery to see results.

Option 2: Mini tummy tuck

This option is similar to the complete tummy tuck, but I make a smaller incision and the belly button is left in place. I focus on the area below the bellow button, rather than the entire abdomen. This can be a good option for women experiencing mild sagging or a stubborn post-baby bulge (in fact, women often consider tummy tuck as part of a mommy makeover to reverse the effects of pregnancy). Skin dissection and muscle tightening is limited with this option.

Option 3: Panniculectomy

This is a modified version of the tummy tuck, also known as an abdominal dermolipectomy. I use this procedure to address overhanging lower belly skin. It’s performed to eliminate pain, prevent infections, and improve hygiene. A panniculectomy is sometimes covered by insurance, as it may be considered medically necessary.
